Nothing prints for payslips or reports
What to try first
The first thing to try is to exit all programs, and restart your computer and printer. Try printing again and if the problem still exists try the ideas below.
Payslips
If you have updated your totals, then you will not be able to print the current payslips from the "Payslips" option. Please go to "Reports" and use "Reprint Payslips" if this is the case. Otherwise, see the following suggestions.
Check that you have selected the correct payslip type in the "Payslips" option. For example, if you are using a laser printer and you accidentally select "2-part payslips on dot matrix printer" nothing will be printed.
Try printing the payslips to the screen - if they print to the screen then the problem may be due to a printer cable, printer out of ink or toner, or some other problem with the printer. Please also check that you have selected the correct printer from the printer dialog.
Try printing another report - if this prints then check that you have selected the correct payslip type.
If you still cannot print your payslip, please see the next section - "Reports".
Reports
Try changing the printing method as follows:
- Select FILE then "General Program Options"
- On the standard tab, locate the option "REPORTS & PAYLIPS: Printing for XP Vista and Higher". Click this to remove the tick.
- Click OK
- Run Payroll Pro again and try printing your report again.
- If this does not solve the problem, change this setting back to what it was by again selecting FILE then "General Program Options" and ticking the option "REPORTS & PAYLIPS: Printing for XP Vista and Higher".
Try printing the report to the screen - if it prints to the screen then the problem may be due to a printer cable, printer out of ink or toner, or some other problem with the printer. Please also check that you have selected the correct printer from the printer dialog.
Try printing from other programs - if you can print from another program but not from Payroll Pro, the problem could still be due to a printer driver.
A lot of printing problems have been known to be solved by replacing corrupt or incorrect printer drivers. Refer to your printers manual or help file for compatible drivers and the Windows on line help file for printer driver installation. New or replacement printer drivers can usually be downloaded from the internet.
None of the above solve the problem
To date, all printing problems have been solved using one of the above. However, in the meantime to get your report printed, you could save it as a PDF file and then try printing the PDF file.
To do this, print the report to the screen, then choose "FILE" and "SAVE AS". Select PDF as the type and choose the name and location of the file. You should then be able to use Adobe to print the PDF document.
